Enjoy the July school holiday break

Hello Majura Football Families,

Congratulations on making it to the halfway point of the season. I hope the season is going well for you and you’re enjoying the football. We’ve certainly been lucky with the weather (I hope I haven’t just cursed us). Back on 1 June, Majura FC had the pleasure of welcoming back one its former players and Matilda, Georgia Yeoman-Dale. Georgia spent the morning with us signing autographs, taking pics and chatting with our players. It was a wonderful morning and Majura FC wishes Georgia all the best and we hope to see her again soon.

If you are at the grounds early you may have seen our six caped Miniroos superheroes. They are actively involved in delivering the U5/6 Miniroos program and have been doing a super job making sure our youngest players learn to love the game! Say hello if you see them around the grounds.

I’d like to give a shout out to our two club captains – Sophia and Owen – who are doing a great job representing the club. On Saturday mornings you can see them kicking the ball around with teams, helping out around the clubhouse and generally doing all that is expected of a club captain – keep up the good work!

We are now marking out technical areas on the fields with signs and orange witches hats. The technical areas are for players and team officials only. The technical area provides teams with the space they need to focus on the game, conduct substitutions, and provide coaching and instruction. You will see vested officials on the grounds ensuring our technical areas are limited to players and team officials only. Parents, family members and friends are welcome to watch from the side of the field opposite the technical area.

Did you know that the majority of our referees at Majura FC are aged between 13 and 18? It means they are children.
As a club we are actively involved in developing our referees in a safe environment. We see our new and emerging Game Leaders as our senior referees of the future and we want to build their confidence and understanding of the game and its rules. Refereeing a game is a difficult task and it takes courage to step out on the field and ref a game. Our Game Leaders and Referees do a great job week-in, week-out so please thank them after your game and encourage them to keep up the good work.
If you do have any issues with a Game Leader or Referee then please bring your matter to the clubhouse and speak with Jono, our Referee Coordinator, or one of the Committee Members. Unfortunately, we have had to deal with several reports of abuse towards our Game Leaders and Referees. Majura FC takes this matter very seriously and will take action where appropriate including banning alleged abusers from Dickson fields.
Finally, Majura FC is driven by volunteers and we need your help. If you have a couple of hours or more to spare then please contact us and we can discuss volunteer opportunities at the club. A big thank you to everyone who has stepped up to help this year, we cannot do it without you.
To those Majura teams participating in Kanga Cup, good luck and have fun. To all Majura players and families, enjoy the break and I look forward to seeing you back on the pitch on 27 July.
