A reassessment will be undertaken tonight and tomorrow morning to decide on grounds opening for Wednesday.

ACT Sportsgrounds have closed fields today, Friday 9 September, but they will be open tomorrow for the last round of the junior season. Even if it’s a bit damp we will be open tomorrow for a big day celebrating the achievements of all our teams and players.

All MiniRoo Games at Dickson Fields Cancelled Today.

Unfortunately fields have not dried out at all this week and it’s still raining at Dickson now. All miniroo games are cancelled from Pee Wees – U11. A decision will be made later this morning about U12 – U18 games. We will let teams affected know.

Radford College and Yass fields are all closed. We expect there will be more field closures and game cancellations so for updates check out Capital Football’s Inclement Weather page here.

All Games at Dickson Fields on Saturday 6 August are Cancelled.

ACT Sportsgrounds have closed all turf fields this weekend, 6-7 August due to the heavy rain this week. Fields are saturated and any training or games will cause damage to the playing surfaces. Radford College, Marist College and Queanbeyan Council fields are all closed as well.

All Miniroo Games at Dickson Fields Today are Cancelled.
Junior League and Senior League Games are ON.

After an inspection this morning by Majura’s set up crew, the decision was made to cancel all Miniroo games, that is Pee Wees through to U11 as the fields are very wet.

Games for competitive age groups, Junior League U12 – U18 and Senior League men’s games will go ahead at this stage.

No Games on the June Long Weekend (with a few exceptions)

There will be no games this weekend except for our Capital Premier League teams and U16 and U18 teams. Majura Pee Wees to U15 teams and all our Senior teams have the long weekend off so enjoy the break and we’ll see you all back on the pitch on June 18-19.

Given the rain this morning we have made the decision to cancel both Pee Wees and U6 Open games. The rain at Dickson is still quite heavy and although the fields are holding up well, we don’t want all our new players to end up soaking wet. We hope that next Saturday will be sunny and give everyone a much better first experience of football (soccer).

All games from 9.30am (U7 to U18) onwards will go ahead.

Majura FC is a community organisation run mostly by volunteers. The Majura Committee is a group of volunteers who want to see everyone playing and enjoying their football (soccer). There are a number of current committee members who are retiring this year (including our VP, Equipment Officer and Uniform Manager), so we need some new volunteers to step up. Please consider taking on a role at the AGM and if you can’t take on a committee role then still come along and vote for others!

Skills Academy

Majura is looking for the right person to plan and manage football programs and drive the technical development of players and coaches at Majura FC. If you’re passionate about football, have a B License (or in the process of obtaining one), have at least five years coaching experience, are a good communicator and leader, then this is the job for you.

It is a paid part-time position. Check the position description here and get your application in by August 16 2021.

ACT Sportsgrounds have closed all turf/grass fields this weekend due to the weather and water logging. That means all games at Dickson and Watson are cancelled and will be recorded as washouts.

After an inspection this morning and with the forecast of some sun and wind, Majura has made the decision to allow training at Dickson tonight. The grounds are still wet so we are asking all teams not to train in the penalty area (18 yard box) and to avoid training on any already muddy patches. If you can find an area beside the field then please train there.

Field 1 (Dickson 129) is in poor condition so teams that are booked to train there should not train on the field but on the areas outside the field – there is plenty of room off that field.

After a field inspection this morning, and with the forecast of more rain this afternoon, Majura has made the decision to cancel training at Dickson today/tonight. The grounds are already very wet and we want to avoid any further damage to the playing surfaces.

Majura will make an assessment tomorrow morning about training on Wednesday night so stay tuned.

Games Cancelled this Weekend due to Ground Closures

All ACT grass fields have been closed until Monday so all Miniroos, Junior League and Senior League games are cancelled and will be recorded as a washout. Premier League games are being rescheduled to synthetic fields and NPL teams have been notified.

All ACT Sportsgrounds (grass fields not synthetic) are closed today and tomorrow so no training for any Majura teams at Dickson or Watson.

The grounds will be assessed at 4pm this afternoon and a decision made about whether they will be open for games on Saturday and Sunday.

Grounds are closed again today so no training tonight. We are still hopeful that games will be on tomorrow but will update you as soon as we know.

For anyone playing at Mawson tomorrow, Saturday 19-June, your games are already cancelled due a sewage leak at the fields that will be unable to be repaired and cleaned up before tomorrow.

All ACT Sportsgrounds (grass fields not synthetic) are closed today so no training for any Majura teams at Dickson or Watson. The grounds will be reassessed tomorrow and hopefully will be open for games on Saturday.

Canteen Manager – Expression of Interest

Majura FC is looking for an experienced and energetic Sports Canteen Manager to oversee the operations of our busy Canteen during the 2021 Season This is a paid position unless we can find a volunteer! The hours of work will be 7.30 am to 4.30 pm each Saturday of competition games from late April to early September with approximately another six hours of preparation work required during the week.

Key responsibilities:

• Placing supplier orders and managing and rotating stock
• Managing menus and price points
• Food preparation
• Supervision of volunteers and employees on game days
• Ensuring all Food Safety regulations and cleaning protocols are adhered to at all times

The ideal candidate is someone who:

• Will lead and take ownership of the canteen and has a passion for providing healthy, nutritious food
• Has a sound knowledge of food preparation and handling, and health and safety regulations
• Has sound communication and interpersonal skills and can relate to a range of people including staff, volunteers and parents
• Has strong organisational and time management skills
• Is a team player and willing to help out in all areas
• Has, or is able to obtain a current Working with Vulnerable People card.
